How much faster is the Ultra-D Chipset

Both have PCI Express and use the new 939 Chips. I would be running an identical setup on both (Athlon XP 3000+ Socket 939, 1024MB, Geforce 6600GT)

How much faster is the Ultra Chipset one going to be? Is it really worth the extra $50?

yes but it also has pci-espress 😉

Then. just get a regular nforce4 chipset?

What the hell does a regular nforce4 chipset have to do with this? I don't want a reglar nforce4 chipset. I like the radeon xpress 200 chipsets why would i go and learn a whole new chipset when this one is working wonderfully?

what i want to know if is for my high end computer how big a difference there is between the nforce ultra chipset and the radeon x200 chipset.

if you don't know just say you don't know 😉

Dont be rude to people giving you advice, as obviously you dont know what you are talking about, considering youre going to try and put an athlon xp into a 939 board.

As of right now, NForce 4, Ultra, SLI and vanilla, rule the 939 enthusiast motherboard scene.

If you're talking Ultra-D (i.e. the DFI board) you can SLI mod it =). But I would wait to see the NF4 Ultra-D/SLI-D(R) vs. the Radeon XPress200 Grouper/Halibut boards.

DFI is releasing a rev 2 o f the NF4 boards which look EXACTLY the same as the Crossfire boards... mmmmmmm..

Yeah but I'm not building the comptuer for enthusiasts.. I am building them for the exact oppose - folks who couldn't care less about what is in there.

No significant performance difference, but as far as I know there are no high quality x200 boards.

How about the MSI ones? You don't think they are good quality?

Your not understanding what he is saying. You cannot put an Athlon XP into a 939 pin board.

Yeah I know it's called the Athlon 64 or something. Big deal.

Anyhow, this is exactaly what I decided to do 😉

The MSI Neo4-F to be precise. I wanted to use it all along but didn't because it didn't have any firewire headers. But I figured what the hell I will just buy a damned firewire pci card for $10 and get over it.

In that case I would stay away from the DFI boards because the chipset fan is so noisy. People who visit my house who don't care about computer performance often comment about the noise of my system, which is almost 100% the DFI chipset fan at this point.

You are putting a computer together and you don't know what kind of processor to put in it. "An Athlon 64 or something?"
I tell you what, this 3000+ Athlon 64 processor is the one for you
