Hey guys,

I got my Duron 600 some days ago, but I'm still waiting for my KT7-RAID board :( I just can't wait to see how much it will overclock. Mine is a unlocked OEM one, and I'll be putting an Alpha PAL6035 on it. I wish I had the s/n so we can compare, but I'm not home so I don't have it. Please tell me:

- Original speed
- Motherboard
- Heatsink/Fan
- Speed achieved
- Voltage
- FSB (if different from 100Mhz)
- Locked/unlocked, OEM/Retail
- Memory type and setting
- Serial number (if possible :))

and any other important information :) Thanks a bunch guys :) I'll post my reslut as soon as I get my board...

Don't have a Duron myself, but I can say from experience that they run very hot, I wouldn't run it without a very good fan/heatsink combination. The one I built did 666MHz with an el cheapo generic fan, and it was running hot as hell (running hot as hell at default 600 too).

With that HSF, you could probably get to and/or past a gig. I think you have very good odds for 900-950.

Unlocked Duron 650 OEM running at 9.5 x 103 = 978MHz @ 1.85V

2 x 64MB Crucial PC133 CAS2 running at PC137 CAS2.

Asus A7V 1.002 using an Alpha PEP66 for cooling.

Under load 40C as in my sig. Idle I think about 33C but I run RC5 so I haven't seen that temp for a while!

Take these with a pinch of salt since it depends on exactly placement of thermistor etc AND which BIOS revision I'm using!

Basically though you should never need to worry about temp with these Durons. If it's under 90C it'll be fine according to AMD. I'd get worried if my reading went over 60, but certainly not before.

It posts at 1000 (10x100) but won't boot into windows (almost . . .) I wish I had more voltage options. Hell if I could pump 2V through it I would.

Didn't bother trying any higher. Should clock it to something like 9x108 but I don't like OCing my PCI bus, that's when everything goes tong.

Very weird. I can do 1Ghz by multiplier o/c perfectly and a week ago could overclock to 105FSB and therefore 1050Mhz perfectly but now even trying to set the FSB to 101Mhz or 102Mhz causes the computer not to boot. Even when i've changed the multiplier to 7, FSB higher than 100 doesn't work. It's not my ram either, cause i know this PC100 64MB baby does PC133 and CAS2 perfectly. I've no idea what the hell is happening!

Another tribble, i cannot seem to use multipliers higher than 10. 10.5, 11, 11.5 all don't work. I don't understand it.

Duron 600@950 rock stable. Also got it to post at 1000 (10x) Need more V!!! 1.9 or 1.95 might get it. I saw a japanese mod for upping the voltage higher. kind of scary though. Some one else be the guinea!

I'm going to hit 978 (9.5x103) again then bench and stress it for stability. Just tried it once then went back to 950.

Asus a7v 1.02 with 1003 bios (dumped 1004a after testing it 3 separate times)
Global Win fop32-1 w Arctic Silver
1.85v
locked (unlocked with pencil)
pc100 from my Compaq...lol (ok I'm a cheap ass) but it's at 2,2,2
week 27 chip
temps vary from 42C to 54C depending on room temp and load. Usually upper 40's.

It has a greenish glow so I suppose it comes from Austin(are any Durons made in Dressen?)

Anyway, could someone please explan me what these numbers mean?

Cool, the average so far is like ~950 or ~975, which is VERY good to me :) I just CAN'T wait to try mine... keep 'em coming, and if someone had a BAD experience with overclocking a Duron, please tell us.

Duron 700 with Alpha 6035 cooler running at 100X10=1ghz Needs 1.9 volts to run. Running at a very hot 50C under full load using burnin programs like prime95 and burnk6. Very stable though. L1 were cut so I had to bust out the trusty mechanical pencil.

650@850 at 1.65v. 900 is unstable at up to 1.75v, temps were pushing above 50c at that voltage so just went back to 850, I'm happy there. Haven't bothered with fsb jumps, not important enough for me.
