I"m reading on CNN, and they say that Ridge is stepping down, because

In July there were reports Ridge told colleagues he was considering stepping down after the November election because of job stresses and the need to earn money in the private sector to pay his children's college costs.

wow, seriously? Even if his kids went to the most expensive college in the world, twice, I'd imagine such a presitigous position would have enough pay for that...

The prez only makes $400,000 a year and the VP only makes $180,000. I'm sure Ridge's paycheck is a little lower. If you're putting two two kids through private school and you wanna maintain a high life style, it can get pretty tight. Besides, he can probably make twice what hes making if he transfered to the private sector.

I can't tell you exactly but it would be available by Googling. Most (all) cabinet positions are less than $200K per annum.

You'll never get rich that way.

Most members of cabinet have other sources of income, like investments etc.

Twice? ROFL, with a cabinet level position on your resume you're going to be earning 8 figures + in the private sector. These people sit on boards, you don't go from the cabinet to junior VP.

So after a piss-poor performance directing homeland security, T.R. could make around 300k in the private sector...

Doing what, exactly, that most of us ATOT'ers couldn't do better?

the president makes the most in the government, at $400,000 a year. so... i have no idea how much ridge would be making. but expect his kids to get into an ivy, at $40k+.

yeah, try using that one at an interview. "I can do better than Tom Ridge... I just know it."
