i have a brand new computer with the following specs...

amd 3400+
gigabyte nforce3 250 (k8ns pro i believe)
1gb corsair xms pc 3200
antec 550W supply
lite-on dvd writer
lite-on combo drive
sony floppy
1 wd 36.7gb raptor
2 wd 120gb

my graphics card is going to be an x800 xt platinum, although because i dont have it yet...should i hook up my old geforce3 ti200 just to make sure everything works and so i can run it? or will it rape my video card and damn near overheat the thing?

also, i will have to rollback drivers and so forth. does the mobo autodetect things that will make it harder to switch to the new video card when i get it??

You should have no problems putting in your g3ti200 now...and then installing a new one later. Since you are switching from a Nvidia product to a ATI product make sure that you completely unintall alll the Nvidia drivers before you drop n your new ATI card...i would even suggest you download "Driver Cleaner2"..after unintalling the drivers run drive cleaner to make sure it got all the Nvidia driver files out..then shut down..install the new card...start up...and install drivers for your new card....your gonna have a sweet little system..although I am still not in agreement over the need for a Graphics card that cost over $400..a $200 9800Pro would keep you happy for a very long time.
