How much does the Geforce2 rely on Ram speed?

How dependent is the geforce2 when it comes to Memory clock speed? I'm askin because i am deciding to get a geforce2 and can't decide whether to get the geforce2 gts-v@65 dollars w/ 7ns ram or a geforce2 pro/ti w/ 4.5 or 4 ns ram@~130. Does the faster ram really justify the 100% price increase? The gts-v has a mem speed of 285 and the ti/pro has speeds of 444/500. how much real world performance increase does that 200 mhz bump relate to? Thanks

GeForce 2's are memory bandwidth limited, overclocking a GF2's memory produces a much larger increase in performance than overclocking the GPU.

I saw the GF2-V advertised but didn't have the interest to go check exactly what it was. Personally I'd pick up a GF2 Pro, they seem to be the sweet spot for price/performance. Although, IIRC correctly the Ti 200's are on a smaller process which could help if you want to OC.

Sorry for the vague info, it's been a while since I've followed gaming cards.

Sold my GF2 Pro to buy a Matrox G450 Dualhead & haven't looked back.

I disagree. I think the GTS-V is the price/performance leader. It CHEAPER than the majority or MX400s (The best, the MSI 8833 is $77) & is many times faster because of the memory. Even if it doesn'toveclock well, you couldn't possibly expect an SDR MX400 to compete! The GF2 PRO can't be the "sweet spot" because it's still too expensive. $65 is SWEET for a GTS-V & I refused my shipment of the 8833 to get one.

<< Anyone know how much of a 200+ mhz mem speed bump relates to real world performance? like 50% speed increase or what? >>

from 133 to 200?
or 133 to 333?

as much as 15% in most any cases
