How much does resellerratings mean to you?

I'm curious what others take on this is. I always check resellerratings before I buy things online, but I also read the comments with a little common sense. Although I stay away from sites with REALLY bad ratings, I have ordered from sites that had lower ratings when it saved me a decent amount of money and not regretted it. Often the comments at these sites I've ordered from were people upset because they got a refurbed product or delivery takes a couple days longer than stated. If the site says it's refurbed and you don't see it, I don't blame the site. If I need something quickly, I usually don't order it online so the shipping being a day or two late doesn't bother me (not to say 2 or 3 weeks late wouldn't matter, but some people post the day after it is scheduled to arrive with complaints). So for me, I think resellerratings is a great site because it gives me the info I need to make a decision, but I don't only go by the overall ratings. Do you use the ratings like I do, or do you just look at the overall rating and base decisions on that?

I'm a little more liberal. If it's under 3.5 or 4 i wont deal with them.

You gotta remember that a large portion of complaints are over 15% restocking fees and 15 day cutoff windows for returns. Those complaints alone can knock a point off of a good seller's ratings.

i figure 70% is OK, but not good, and 5/7 is ~71% so i just rounded. Laziness rules my world. :)

I always check resellerratings.com before buying from unknown vendor. And I always rate a vendor I deal with on resellerratings as well.

I don't have any strict guidelines as far as a ratio as to who I will deal with. If the rating is 2 or 3, and lots of comments, then no way. If poor rating but only a few comments, I read them. Many times people give negative comments for things they should have known-restocking fees, etc., or are simply whiners. What I look for in the comments are trends (told in stock when was not, repeated new delivery dates, etc.)

Also, is there a limit to the number of reviews a company has to have before you will buy from them? I don't buy if they only have 1 or 2 reviews, but otherwise I will consider it.

I agree but resellerratings.com isnt the only tool I use for deciding on whether or not a company will get my business. If the item I'm considering buying is over 100 bux I usually call the company first, ir find out where they are located and then call their local BBB to see if there are any complaints lodged against them.

Maybe I'm overly cautious, but its my money.

Uh, guys...

Resellerratings has been dead as a doornail since Sept. of 2001.

If you are basing buying decisions on this site,
you are basing your decisions on references given last Summer
or earlier. (A lot can and does change over six months).

I love that place, and I always recommend that people go there before buying online at all.

That's funny, Look here to see cutomer comments for Newegg as late as TODAY.

They went under for a while, but they appear to be back up. At least, people are able to leave comments there.

<< Scary or not, I haven't been burned yet.

Seriously, the HD Forum members take great effort to warn against bad sellers.

I know and I think it's important that ALL ATers know of RR's demise. RR has been very helpful esp when it comes to shady laptop dealers such as GPS Computers or Overclockerz.

That's strange, I just rated a few companies only a few days ago.

It would let you post ratings and comments, but they rarely actually made it in to the database for public consumption.

<< Does anybody know the reason for their demise? >>

Internet.com is incapable of recognizing a valuable asset.
