i will probably be getting a palm5 off ebay, bare unit... i'm not gonna be hotsyncing it, i'm gonna be using it as the controller for my car-puter. how much does it take to get it working in that respect? can it draw the power to operate it through the serial cable to the computer?

I'm pretty sure it can't draw the power it needs from a serial cable. Other than that, good luck 😉

and whatever happened to that 4 hour bump rule?

not sure but somewhere along the lines of your first born child.

you should probably search for a palm-specific forum to ask that question.

argh. auction ends in 2 hours............

How do you intend to use it in your car-puter? I'm intrigued....and I have an old Palm Pro laying around and a mostly-finished car-puter!

Very interesting. That's almost useful to me except mine is Win2k OS and has GPS software as well. Although this is interesting. Perhaps I can use the Palm in some other way to manage the MP3s and GPS....

Why do you need for it to draw power?

It looks like Giantdisc uses the IR to issue controls. If it gets low on battery, just stick it in a cradle or use a charge cable.

i thought you wanted to control the whole pc just not mp3. thats a neat program.

i know that for ppc's they have usb charge cables. in the manual it says to connect using a serial cable. wil it work with usb?

if so this should work or something similar.
