How much does it cost to replace a crankshaft seal?

The part itself (a little ring/seal about the size of a silver dollar) is only $5.
In my car (1.6 L 4 cyclinder Sentra), it's behind the front passenger wheel well, obstructed by the pulley and the drive belts.

How much should labor cost?

I did that exact job in my driveway once...not too hard. Depending on the shop, it should take about an hour or so. $65 to $100.

Your dreaming. More like 3-4 hours and $350-$450

Dreaming? Hell. You jack up the car, remove the belts, remove one bolt on the pulley, pry off the pulley with a couple of screw-drivers, pry out the seal, tap in the new seal, replace the other parts you took off. What's so hard about that? I already did it...remember?

You'd have to be drunk to take "three or four hours".

Now if you have a really early Sentra....say 1988 or earlier, that has a cam-belt, the seal is behind the cam belt, making the job more difficult. That job might take 3-4 hours.

All the Sentras with cam-chains have an easily replaced crank-seal.

Well, it was actually an hour job that costed $120 parts/labor for the crankshaft seal.
And another $60 for 2 drive belts and $15 for oil change.

I guess I didn't get too ripped off

Sorry, I was assuming that the engine would be something like the ones I have worked on where the stupid bolt holding on the harmonic balencer is on to like 2000 ft/lbs, with removal of the whole front of the engine being neccessary to remove that stupid seal.

My bad.
