How much does it cost to pick up a towed car?

So my friend got her car towed last night after parking in what turned out to be a 30 minute zone..and was wondering how much it will cost to get it back today?

This is in LA if it makes a difference

70 on my campus, but those people tow wrong cars ( cars have the right permit) all the time. I hate them.

I got a $40 parking ticket in LA last weekend. 🙁

Parking was allowed in the neighborhood from 8am to 8pm, and I got back to my car at about 8:15pm. The ticket was stamped 8:04pm... I was surprised by the efficiency of the parking patrol.

Where I live it costs you nothing to get your car out of an impound yard.

City By-law states that they have to release your car on demand and not hold it hostage for payment. To get the impound fees they must haul you into small claims court.

/me huggles this by-law. 😉

Depends on where it was towed. I would expect it will cost you at least $100 though. They charge you storage also. The longer it is there the more it will cost you to get it out.

The one time my car was towed (in Berkeley) I was charged extra for an after-hours pickup. Was about the same as a day's storage. And when I went to drive my car out of the warehouse the dude was like don't touch the car next to yours, its evidence. Lovely experience.

If you actually STEAL your car back, have you broken the law?

if you need to break into a private lot, then yes.

I'm suprised there's not more killings over that. I would be pissed if someone took my car. I could understand why someone would walk into an impound lot shooting.

my friend's car got stolen and was towed to a lot. they wanted to charge him around $2k for towing and "storage fee". since his car doesn't worth much more than that, he had to pay the lot a couple hundred to get rid of the car...

yeah i know it sounds dumb. let me have the damn car!!!!!!
