How much does it cost to alter a suit? Where to find a good tailor?

Just tried on a suit I had in high school a couple of years ago that I haven't touched in a couple of years. It is a great suit that I paid alot for at the banana republic and I'm about 40 lbs lighter. So the suit is really loose...the back really hangs down, the sleeves are too long and overall just too big for me. What are my options in terms of making it smallers so it fits me better? I have no experience in this matter so I'm thinking maybe a shop or a tailor of some sort? So I'm trying to figure out where to start. Does anyone know about these matters?

Edit: Changed title to reflect changes.

if it is really nice you can have it taken in, but usually that is only good for a little bit of change. you may just have to get fat again

goto a tailor... they will fit it for you... any privately owned suit shop will have a tailor, i would imagine they would take your measurements again and fit the suit to your new dimentions.

Hi. So it seems so far the best option would be to take it to a tailor. Any tips on how to find a good one and the range of the price?

and shinerburke....I will never be that fat evar again!!!...death before obesity... besides i just saw "supersize me". 😛
