Right now I pay $50/month and my company takes care of the rest.

I find out it's going to cost me $425/month when I add my g/f after we get married

With 2 or more dependents, it going to cost $650/month. So it's going to get expensive when I have kids.

I just found out the total cost (employee + employer) if it is 2 or more dependents will be $29,000/yr. That is pretty crazy. So how exactly will this Obama Care deal help?

It's raising everybody's prices. You do get one free annual physical, and if you can't afford insurance, you can get it somehow. But then again, I don't really know because we use my wife's work's provided insurance.

I guess one way to look at it is the increased premiums are a tax only on the people that pay for insurance so the others that don't get it? You can look into other plans that your company offers that are cheaper. And you get to change that after a change in status (single--> married) so you have plenty of time to figure out which plan you want.

That is the cheapest which is Kaiser.

If I were to change to something good like Healthnet PPO, it would cost a total of $33,000/yr. So I would have to pay $750/month.

Somethings wrong with the math here. $750/month is $9000 year. $33k/year is $2750/month.

no, total cost to employee (me) + employer (work) is $33k/yr or $2750/mo.

But it will cost me $750/mo and my company will pay the rest.

Gotcha, sorry, I missed that piece. Either way, it's insane how much insurance costs.

Just me is $72/mo HIP. It went up from $25/mo HIP. Crazy jump for the same benefits but still low.
