We're trying to budget how much our monthly bills would be. This is obviously just a general idea -- say insurance on a $300k house in an urban area.

Anyone know?

It depends on the area that the house is located in, stuff like hurricane, flood, toranado, earthquake etc.

Depends on a lot of factors but anywhere from $250 - $450 per year.

Wow, you would think it'd be more..

Although, I imagine you get raped in areas like, say, tornado alley.

Yeah you'd think insuring a house would cost a lot ...

Houses do cost a lot though, property taxes, utilities, repairs, and insurance.

Fortunately earthquake insurance here in Portland is about $50/yr on top of regular Home Owners Insurance.
