As suggested, Home Depot sells shovels in all price ranges. You should be able to get a cheap, plastic shovel for $5 - $6. I've used these before that they are fine - lightweight and do an O.K. job on lighter snow. However, if you have a few feet of snow to shovel through, you might be better looking for a scoop shovel. These are also referred to as grain shovels. They make them in both plastic and aluminum. The price will be higher than the other shovel I mentioned above, though.

We had a wicked storm about 7 years ago in our area. All stores sold out of their shovels quite quickly. When they received more stock towards the end of the week, I went on a buying frenzy. I purchased 4 different shovels from 3 or so stores. I felt so greedy at the time. However, during this past storm, all of those shovels came in quite handy.
