lets say I'm a 20yo male and I did some college at UC and now I dropped out and I want to get insurance on some 3000lb <$1000 sedan and I want pretty minimal coverage for accidents that I cause, but good coverage if I need $2M of medial costs because someone nearly killed me and didn't have insurance and fled.

how much can I expect to pay?

Quoted for truth. I'm a 22 year old single male driving a 98 Subaru Impreza. When I researched insurance quotes, the cheapest I could get with somewhat minimal coverage was $180/month. Thankfully I'm on a family plan with a multi-vehicle discount.

I wish you luck in your insurance endeavors.

Correct me if I am wrong, but are you planning on buying a beater and then getting on the highway and slamming on your brakes causing someone to ram into you from behind, causing you much bodily damage?

You're not going to get an accurate quote unless a real insurance agent posts in this thread. IMHO your best best is to check geico.com first, the call your local Allstate & State Farm rep. for a quote. It pays to check around, but be sure you deal with a reputable company and stay far away from the el-cheapo no name insurance companies. You also need to be aware of the limits and deductibles.

** I am editing my post because I just did a Geico online quote with the same coverages as my current Allstate policy (includes multi-car and homeowners discount), and to my surprise Geico is about $20 cheaper per month.

2002 Ford SVT Lightning
Geico total 6 month premium $349

Not bad for a truck with a blower eh? :p

Progressive will walk you through a quote online. It probably won't be the cheapest you'll find.

I went and got a progressive quote... $108 per month with nothing but liability and a $500 deductible. My current insurance gives me a lot better coverage at $150 per month so I guess I'll stick with that for now >_<);;;.

Why are your rates so expensive? Have you tried Geico?

Geico Is $180 per month if I recall correctly for basic insurance coverage (including uninsured/underinsured).

I have a 98 Subaru Impreza L Wagon, 22 yr old male, single, non home-owning, and live in Az. I have had no accidents/violations/tickets on my record and have had my license for 4 years :(.
