How much does car color matter?

it seems that there are a few good deals on black cars...which are also hotter in summer and whose color makes imperfections show up more easily.

It's personal preference. but black cars are nice... When new and clean. that's it and I wouldn't get them for that reason stated above.

I tend to go for light coloured cars like silver and white, but deep impact blue is my weak point. lol

Consider safety, some colors get peoples attention better, which could save your life. I used to have a black car, it showed swirl marks very easily and cat claw marks from stray's walking on it.
It also got hit in the parking lot more than any other color of car I have ever owned. I get it though, it's night, people back up and don't notice your black car nearly as fluently as a brighter one.

I've only owned one black car in my life. It looked amazing when clean but it only looked clean for about 10 minutes after you wash it and they are horrible in hot climates. Silver cars are invisible, white cars are boring, tan cars are for old people... blah blah blah.

Get whatever color car you want.

Did any of those accidents ever result in your death?

Color of the car could save your life? 😵 Yeah right...

Black is the only color fitting for an Escalade of any sort. It also is needed for any Lexus owners trying battle with Mercedes owners that their car is rich and not just a mask for their utilitarian Toyota underpinnings.

my sister had the diamond white pearl colour on her escalade. looked really good.

just like this one.

imo we need more brown cars.

remember the 70's and 80's?

brown cars everywhere.

^^I've driven a Malibu in that color, quite nice. The picture makes it seem a bit more yellow than it is.

Owned two black cars, first one was wrecked. Apparently black lowered the value slightly...at least for insurance purposes. $10? Seemed asinine, I've never had a problem with car color beyond personal preference.

Shame that white is one of the colors I despise the most. Nothing screams dull more than any white car. It simply has no soul and doesn't do a good job of being generic(silver does that better).

I've had orange, blue, red (various), green, silver, grey, white. The only real difference is how they show dirt, and a slight impact on resale in some cases.

Blue is my favorite color and my favorite two cars have been dark blue.

I hope never to have a black car again. They're just too much trouble to keep clean. My son has a black car and it's always filthy but he doesn't seem to care (too lazy to actually wash it).

But I understand why people love black cars - they do look fantastic when washed and waxed. White is the other color I don't really want. I have a beater white car now and it's in great shape for its age (it's a '98) but the color itself is boring IMO.

If I could have only gotten my current car in white I probably wouldn't have gotten it, black would have been a harder decision. It also came in yellow, red, and silver and any of those would have been acceptable.

I like shades instead of color. I usually tend toward silver vehicles. Silver is one of the best choices for not showing dirt.

My first car was black, never again.

When I was looking for a Trans Am, I was looking at blue and black ones.

I ended up with Sunset Orange Metallic.

Dark blue

I also had a black car before this one. It's the metallic kind so it's not as bad as flat black, but still pretty hard to keep clean and swirl free. This one probably won't be much better.

There are some shades of white that have just a touch of blue in them and it makes them very clean and pure. The "Oxford White" Ford has used for decades is like that. Looks pretty good on a Mustang. I hate any sort of "off" to the white.

There are a few bright silvers that look good too. I have a Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback in "Apex Silver" and it flat glows in the sun. I've gotten several random comments from strangers about the color. Still, my preferred color is metallic red. Easy to see, looks good and doesn't get dirty as quick as a dark color.

Black is one of the best selling colors across most vehicles so you are bound to find more deals. Plus, I bet buyers that don't intend to keep the car for long go with black since they aren't concerned about long term maintenance, but prefer the look.

To someone who's not paying attention, anything that could get their attention could save your life, don't be arrogant. I wouldn't be here right now if an orange and red truck wasn't parked next to where I was working near a construction site because the lady that ran off the road and wrecked her suv told me that the truck got her attention first before she saw me which is why she braked hard and swerved off the road away from me.
