How much does auto reupholstery cost?

I got my tax refund today (finally!), just got a job (finally!!), and a new baby on the way...

My 1984 Volvo is getting its engine put in next week by moi, but the leather interior is shredded. With a new baby, I don't want to have her (him?) in the car with the leather and stufing pieces flapping around.

I'm thinking vinyl for the rear bench, and vinyl/cloth for the front buckets.

How much will this cost me? And any recommendations for shops in Orange County, Los Angeles County, Riverside County, or San Bernardino county? San Diego is a possible, but I'd prefer to stay local. I'm in OC.

Thanks!

Check out the shops in TJ. You can get the same quallity at 1/2 the price.
I'd heard that, but really don't want to go to TJ. 🙁 (Unless I"m partying of course..heh)

We had our 89 Jeep Cherokee reupholstered a few years ago. It was dirt cheap. You should ask people that live in the area if they know anyone. Our guy was some dude who worked on lowriders and what not in his garage and was recommended by a friend of a friend. The Cherokee came out of there looking like mint condition. This was in Texas by the way, so not much help. 😀

How cheap was cheap? What kinds of material? I understand that each situation is different, but I'm trying to get a ballpark figure...

Thanks!

There are many sites online where you can buy leather or fabric for seats (these are car specific and fit tight just like the stock seat fabric). I suppose you can install yourself but most people buy it online then have it installed somewhere.

Yeah, I've seen those for my Volvo and they aren't cheap. 🙁

Try to find a used set from a junk yard. Leather is nice, try to find it. Should not be impossible. Note that seats from never models fits too.
