I doubt it's that high. Maybe total revenue is that high, but I don't think he's making that personally.

I haven't the foggiest idea. I do remember a thread where someone found out this site was estimated at being worth like $10mil though. I hope he's making plenty.

I know of a website that has 1/10'th the traffic and makes 60-80K a year on advertisements alone. I would not be shocked if he was seeing $250,000.00 yearly however it takes an awful lot of money to run a site like this. If he is seeing $50K yearly, free and clear, he is probably doing good.

Cost? What cost? The Mods are free and most probably the people doing the actual hands-on website updating and hardware maintenance are either volunteers/friends of his or they are low paid, part-time employees.

I'm not even sure if this site runs on it's own hardware anymore or is run on a Webhosting Company's hardware. I remember a few articles on "The Anandtech Server Farm" but that was awhile back.

No doubt that bandwidth is not cheap. But the ads alone waaaay more than pay for the bandwidth.

What is Anandtech.com today surely started as a labor of love many years ago, out of his own (parents?) pockets. No doubt about that. It has become a successful business through a lot of smarts and hard work. When Anand or an employee flies out to California for the latest NVidia conference and stays in a hotel, those are business expenses and deductible. If they pay for it vs. being taken care of by the company.

So yeah, now he's making bucks. 10 years ago, not so much.

Don't forget he probably gets paid off pretty well by Intel and others. Don't deny it. He definitely gets paid well to run special articles.

If only AT had implemented affiliate URL redirects years earlier, so much potential $$$ lost.

For example if you click a link to an Amazon.com or Newegg.com item, look at the URL.

I'm sure he's doing just fine financially, regardless it's none of our business.

As an internet marketer, I can tell you to forget those "website worth" sites, they are all extremely inaccurate.

I personally think Anand makes a killing (several $100,000/y) just from the affiliates links alone. Add ad revenue etc...

I believe the Ferrari is from the earlier days, when advertising paid better. He certainly isn't making as much per hit now as he was in 2006, let alone 1999.

using the higher number and the perpetuity formula with the interest rate set at a 2.1% for inflation, he is taking in 50k/year in profit off the site.

Is "perpetuity formula" a fancy way of saying "pulled directly from my ass"?

Plus he is married now. I doubt that his wife would let him driving around in that hot car as a married man.

Anand, if you want to get rid of it (the car of course), PM me. :p
