Well I CAN get one for around $4000 new. with my mechanics discount and knowing somebody
But $6000 might be the cash and carry for someone that just walks in off the street. But the Complete LS1 is a wesome setup for putting in a classic car. You can already see some in Hot Rod Mag and Chevy Performance Mag.
What are the specs on that LQ4?Originally posted by: LAUST
I've gotten as low as $2200 for a brand new LQ4 (6.0 liter) and $2800 for the LS1. I've been playing with the idea of swapping out my LM7 with the now NEW LQ4 (Z06 style aluminum heads) but I can't justify it if my current motor is still running strong, this thing likes abuse![]()
LQ4 is an Iron block 6 liter and starting in 2001 it now has aluminum heads, while rated at 360Lbs of Torque still thats BS, as is the LM7 and LS1 basically all GM's V8 motors are under rated. Because of it's iron build and thickest walls the LQ4 is the best block for stroker motors.Originally posted by: TuffGuy

(I was wondering about the cost of a new LS1 engine.)

The new LS1 5.7 liter (346C.I.) I've seen as low as $2800, I've been playing with the idea's of putting the LS1 or LQ4 in my truck but my LM7 5.3 liter is running very very strong.

I'll have to look at the ZZ4, is that one F.I.?? I know the Ramjets both have an awesome F.I. with the computer mounted right on the injection. and then the Thumpers are Carb'dOriginally posted by: Carbonyl
Laust the ZZ4 is already a stroker moter with rollercam. 350 with a 400 crank/stroke makes a 383 and pushes ~425 HP afaik would'nt that be a better deal than either engine?
Also since you did'nt see my lightning thread perhaps you can tell me if they come with headers stock and if thiers a waiting list... My better half needs a car quick since her buick is desentegrating. I am really pushing for a lightning but she wants another buick WTF??
if it was for an older car yes I would definantly go with the previous gen one's 1st. Just because they have less electronics.
Yes the Lightnings come stock with headers, there is no waiting on them we have em all over Denver. I'll ask around for you about the quality of headers, I know the stock headers on the old 351 Lightnings were POS's that was one of the upgrades my buddy did with his SC kit on his 1995 L. But I know Ford Motorsport uses some nice JBA headers now for their aftermarket division. Which are one of my fav header companies, awesome flanges and great welds so the flow and the ceramic coating goes on nice, hopefully they just use those stock now I'll ask around.
EDIT: Exhaust manifolds Cast iron tuned headers They are crap.... swap em out for some 1 5/8 flange JBA's or some Bassani's.... and I'd opt for Ceramic coating, after having ceramic coated headers I will NEVER EVER EVER go back![]()
