How much does a place make when someone signs up for a cell phone contract?

I need to buy 4 cell phones this weekend for my family. I want to know how much bargaining power I have in terms of free phones. I would like to know how much the place gets from the carrier for each contract. Also, do they get significantly less if I get a family plan and add the 4 phones to it?

The cellphones themselves usually have a pretty hefty markup, 100% in some cases. So you have some definite bargaining power with the phones(that's if the place selling has a "bargaining" policy). As far as contracts go your guess is as good as mine.

uhh, amazon has a deal where you make $175 on the sony ericsson t610 through tmobile. i think you can get up to 4. making $700 is one hell of a bargain.

I'm going to shop around in Monterey Park, CA where there are alot of Chinese owned cell phone places. I've heard these types of places usually have the best bargains as well as some room for bargaining.
