How much does a medevac cost?

I've heard about 7-10k. And how much does an ambulance ride to the emergency room cost?

It usually depends on how far you need to go, since they do charge for single-use items like splints and use-over-time items like fuel and oxygen. I would estimate a 'typical' ambulance in my region at about $800 and Care Flight at $15,000 (plus $10,000 in ER bills, since they only send the helicopter if you have to go to a trauma center).

When I fractured my tibia back in high school, they put me on an ambulance to take me to the hospital which was a block away... found out it cost my parents 600 bucks... had I known, I'd limp my way to the ER.

You can get helicopter ambulance ride insurance for about $25 a year. You buy it directly from the helicopter ambulance co.

Enough that if you dont have insurance you would want to crash the flight yourself.

I can just picture someone with a friend bleeding to death next to them, asking this forum how much a medevac costs before calling the hospital.
