Screw that. Go steal the clothes from a bum, throw them in the washer/dryer, good as new.

There are more threads on this if you're willing to look. Since I'm too lazy to do it for you,

Shop at Brooks Brothers outlet stores or their regular stores when they're having a sale. This would be for business. If you're looking for a suit for evenings out, then you're on your own.

I'd try the Men's Warehouse. I've bought some suits to wear for church and stuff, and the slacks and jacket usually come out to around $300, but I'm not sure how much the other stuff will cost.

Well, it also depends on what kind of fabric you want. Wool will cost you; about $1000 for a blazer/jacket, $275+ for pant last time I checked. From what I hear, mens warehouse is decent. Going to a mens clothing store (think old fashion) and finding a good, personal taylor would be a good option.

As for a tie, well they all [somehwhat] look the same, so just go and buy whatever you want. Materials and brand name will differ is what you will pay for.

Shoes, Bostonian will set you back about $150-200. Goldtoe socks are pretty good imo.

For your first suit, I suggest a blue pinstripe, three or four button. Don't get (or call it) a cheap suit; get an inexpensive one. Suits are not generally inexpensive from what I have observed.

Dress shirt will be about $50+. Belt about another $35 to $100. Tie clip thing about $50 (or more for personalized ones or real gold ones).

A friend of mine in the service says that he met a tailor in Japan that will do high-quality 100% silk suits in their entirety for $100 U.S. :)

Do you have to go to Japan for that? ;) Check out department stores like JC Penney... You can get a decent suit from Syms for under 300.

I got a Kenneth Cole suit for about $400. Shoes, 2 shirts, 2 ties and everything else ran about 250 more, so about 650 all together.

It can be done for cheap IF you shop around. K&G is the cheapest place I know of to buy a suit, other options are probably a Brooks Brother sale/outlet or a Men's Warehouse. Shirts, blets, ties (even shoes) can be bought at TJ Maxx or Marshalls. DSW Shoe Warehouse is good for shoes. It won't be Hugo Boss but it will get the job done.

The range is anywhere from $150 (cheap suit) to really really high. Go to Men's Warehouse or Today's Man.

Edit: That's just for the pants and jacket

lmao! Its worth a shot!

My father bought a pretty damned nice suit at Goodwill for like $40.00. I'm not talking 'nice...considering it came from Goodwill'. I mean nice as in 'WTF do you mean you found that at Goodwill?' It looked very new and contemporary.

Usually, the good stuff that is donated never makes it passed Goodwill volunteers and employees. Shame, really, because there are a lot of very nice things donated to Goodwill.

Mens Wearhouse.. about 300 or so..

I have tried 3 day suit broker in So.Cal its not the best but it works.. 150 bucks for it all.

I will however take Mens Wearhouse or Nordstrom Rack over 3 day suit broker.

a grand? where are you shopping compuwiz?

just priced this out at brooks brothers online:

Basketweave Tie 288A:BLCK In Stock $52.50 $52.50

Still need shoes and you can get a nice pair of basic Bostonians for $100, socks are minimal like $10 for two pair on sale, a Belt can be had for $40 or less....

and all of the stuff I listed above you can get for much cheaper at either a department store on sale like Macy's or the Men's wearhouse, Symms....even Joseph Bank has lower prices than Brooks and is pretty good.
