How much does a Deli Manager for a Major Chain grocery store make annually?

Hi,

My wifes friend says she'll earn $60,000+ annually with pay and bonuses.

I live in Charlotte, NC (large city) and she works for Harris Teeter (large chain in Clt).

Any ideas?

Thanks

Bah, I knew it. There's the real reason for this post. Nobody cares about Deli Managers.

*ignores Deli Manager standing out in the rain with big sad puppydog eyes*

nO rEALLY, that was only a secondary plea for help.

I think she is all bulls#*t, I can see The Store Manager making 60+

She'll need to have a lot of seniority, be in a high volume store overseeing a large staff, have a strong union and work a lot of overtime to get near that. $40-45k is more realistic.

She hasn't even worked there 1 year.

The "Deli" at a Harris Teeter is a major operation, and pay is relative to regional cost of living, 60k seems like top dollar but not out of the question.

I know the bakery managers at a regional supermarket near me make upwards of 50k a year. Not sure how a deli compares. Probably is greatly dependent on if they do catering and get some sort of a spiff off of those sales.

According to Publix's (a grocery store chain down here in the south...and maybe elsewhere, not sure) website, their department managers make $54k/year. So no, $60k/year doesn't sound too far-fetched, especially for Harris Teeter.

My parents own a cafe and they get Boars Head. Boars Head so is damn expensive but they taste so good. Also, my parents just got some Salmon from Spain. So good, but expensive. People love that stuff.

Well, I could see $50K (and even that would be a stretch) and $10K of bonus. But, to get that $10K would probably mean setting world records for production and efficiency.

Usually bonuses run around 10%.
