We were looking today. Top of the line two bedrooms go for $900+. The one we're in which is really quite nice is $715. In my particular suburb $625 or so would be the minimum for a two bedroom. I saw today a nice 1200 square foot two bedroom with a single car garage at a really nice complex for $915/month. This is in Hoover, which is attached to, and south of, Birmingham. Power is $45-90/month. Water is a ripoff at $30.
I'm in Gainesville, FL. At the apt complex I live at it's $460/month for a 3 per person w/ utilities, washer dryer, and furnished. It's $480 for 2. Each person gets their own bathroom and bedroom. Common living room with attached kitchen and a balcony.
I live in a 2 bedroom house, with a fairly large living room + dining room area, off street partking (space for 2 cars) and a backyard. I pay $400 a month + all utilities here in Lebanon, PA.
My wife and I were paying $400/month near downtown, St. Louis. We had enough of "city life" (i.e. crime, noise, traffic, etc.) and live 25 mi west of the city now. The same size apartment is about $650 - $750 per month in the suburbs.
