How much do you think the 5900 FX Ultra and Radeon 9800 Pro will be in 1 month?

Not sure about the 5900 but I think you might catch the 9800 Pro (128) for about 360 to 375. It is/was at googlegear.com for $378 with free 2 day shipping. I got mine at newegg for $388 shipped.

You will not see any dramatic price drops for another 3 mo on either card, IMHO. Look at the price of the 9700 Pro, it's been out about a year now? and it still commands a high price.

you can get 9800 pro new oem sealed for 299 shipped. go to yahoo auctions and search 9800. you will see about four.

I already purchased mine. The seller is unrated but he has 45 paypal transactions and is verified. i already have my tracking number for the card.

I will update you tommorow as to whether i get the 9800 pro or an empty ups box with a sprite can and a popped ballon 🙂

I'm thinking about $350 retail version for an average at the online stores. On sale occasionally at $325.00. OEMs will probably sit around $300.00. IMHO.

By the way I scored my 9800 Pro for $261 shipped so there are deals out there mostly on the auction sites. I've seen them as low as $275.00 with no bidding required. You just have to be patient and then quick when the right deal shows up.

Good Luck!

It's crazy looking at prices on high end video cards. $300-500 for freaking video card? People buy them? I guess so. I wonder how many years this pricing game will last.

Intel did make and sell $1000 processor chips for very long time.

That's why all those companies have marketing departments, pretty much they charge you as much as they can, supply and demand kind of thing. Meaning there's enough people buying those $500 cards for them not to have to lower prices.

Yeah its the morons screwing it up for us. People actually paid $350+ for older video cards so they think they can charge that much. So sad for us. : / Video card is worth $150-200 max imo.

I just bought my 9800 pro for 325. My sister was going to buy a new card, so I said i would give her my ti4600 and I would pay the difference. My dad then chipped in a hundred dollars because I am building her computer and doing some other work for him. I only had to pay around $50, and because I got my ti4600 free when it came out, I basically got a ti4600 for a year and a 9800 pro for $50.
