How much do you think a pound (dry measure, not British currency) of your average, randomly distributed American coins is worth?

What nation's currency? What coin? Is the bag full of the same coin or mixed? Are the coins new or old? If old, how old?

We need more info here.

total random guess, uh, maybe 6 to 8 bucks if there were lots of quarters.

How much does a $10 roll of quarters weigh?

A pound of coins weighs as much as a pound of feathers.

I didn't say "how much does a pound of coins weigh, I said "how much is a pound of coins WORTH"

Well if its american currency,
This is how much one of each weighs

(1lb is approx 448Grams, all quantities in the table below are rounded up)

Penny 2.5gm (180 pennies = full pound)
Nickel 5gm (90 nickels = full pound)
Dime 2.27gm (198 dimes = full pound)
Quarter 5.67gm (80 quarters = full pound)

If the distribution is random by quantity then there will be approx the same amount of each coin, so approimately 29 of each type of coin.
(this would equate to just under 1 pound) any single additional coin would bring this to more than 1 pound
You would have $11.89 (since this is random .. your range is + or minus a buck

To distribution is random by weight.. figure 4 pounds (1 pound of each coin is worth $46.10, Divided by 4 gives us aprox $11.53 ... so range for this is + or - a buck

So, My guess based upon the info given would be $11.75

Well if there is a 1909 S VDB Lincoln penny in MS-65 condition the worth could be a few thousand dollars.
