How much do you still like working with computers?

I'm sort of curious about how much people still like working with computers. Just heard a lecture on job satisfaction and computer scientists weren't in the top 10. Personally, I'm not as interested in them anymore as I was 10 years ago.

I never did. :)

I hate doing that. I like to work on the computer creating stuff but hate making IT work. Yeah... I know, I am an old-school Mac user pretty much raised with Mac OS 7.6 and OS 8 in the mid '90s.

It depends. I HATE fixing computers for people. It's easy but so many times it's a pain in the ass.

As far as programming I don't mind it so bad. I don't do any serious programming anymore, but I still enjoy any web based programming, especially DB.

I don't want to be in a computer related career like I did 8 years ago.

i only work on my own now. maybe some EASY fixes here and there for some people but absolutely no more building computers for other people; so out of that game.

It was cool and all until I became tech support for everyone who knew me and expected to do it for free. Im talking whole college dorms, guys and girls + family + friends.

I think technology used to be more "steady." By that I mean that they didnt have 50 different CPUs out at once each with different crap other than GHz which is hard enough to keep up with all the different measurements of speed, and that is just from Intel, not to mention AMD.

It is pretty boring if you think about it.

I don't mind it, but I've gotten myself railroaded into a position where I work with them all day, but don't get much of a chance to work ON them (i.e. programming/hw fiddling). Configuration of 3rd party software is starting to get kinda old.

I've gotten to the point of telling people to go buy a dell. Everyone I know asks me about PC questions, my dad, my brother, all my friends, all my brother's friends, all my dad's friends, etc.

it's still ok.

i like helping people, and i like being able to fix crap that they swear can't be fixed.

as long as the crappy rig that i'm working on at the moment is set up next to my main rig, i can do other stuff simultaneously (game, nef) and not be bothered too much by it.

i can only think of two other professions that i might possibly be able to get a job at this pay rate, so i still love it. i would have to start over so it would take 5-10 years to get back to this pay level in those fields, i would think

I've been working with them and on them now for about 15 years... and while the passion of 'love' I used to have working with them has gone, I am not tired of them yet. So... It's ok :)

What I do like about computers is that they're always changing, of course... that is also what I don't like about them - haha.

Question needs to be more specific. I love building and working on my own systems. I'd rather gouge my eyeballs out than clean up another technological missing link's spyware-infested PC though.
