Here's my plan:

Present = $480
Dinner = $100
That night = Priceless

That's for my wife of 3+ years, btw...

You can buy three high quality escorts for that much and triple your fun.

While I would be up for that...my wife wouldn't like it much. 🙁

Whether you do it or not is one thing, but that doesn't mean the stuff ain't out there.
The key is very few people go all out on this day. You don't see decorations on 50% of yards like Christmas. You don't see house interiors covered with trees, lights, skeletons, cobwebs, eggs, bunnies, ducks, etc like you see on christmas, halloween, or easter. You don't buy 10 bags of candy like on Halloween. The commercialization of this holiday is about the least of the big holidays. It isn't even in the same commercialization league.

Sure you could go all out buying decorations and other useless stuff. But who does? And if you don't, no one will notice nor care.

cheap as pos...were both students so havent got the money, were both swimmers, so i guess its a date down the pool for trainin! i guess a card, and some where nice to eat or something.

Grocery store flowers are cheap but they don't seem to last as long. No need to go to any clubs.

Pretty sure my local grocery stores charges more than $15 for one dozen roses. And from my experience women love receiving two dozen, makes them feel like you went above and beyond the standard dozen. Plus you have more decorating options. Split them up into two vases with a dozen in each. Have one vase with a dozen and set out single roses all around the bedroom. Give her 18 roses (she'll just notice its more than a dozen) and use the other four for your mother/mother-in-law and grandmothers.

you'd better hope she picks you as her guest for the second ticket!!! 😉

She has no choice, I'm only giving her 1 ticket. I will hold on to mine!

We don't celebrate this 100% commercial holiday.
No, Valentine's day is nearly 0% commercial. Its a day about picking a woman and having sex with her for a year. Noting more. There are little to no lawn ornaments, little to no house decorations, no costumes to buy, no useless trees that die in a couple weeks, etc. There really is very little commercial about it. It is and always has been about sex. I say, why stop tradition?

I'm getting my GF some flowers and we are going to a Sweetheart dance on the 17th. Of course, we would be going to the dance anyways as we do all Fridays. And I'll get the flowers on the 17th as well so the cost will be minimal, maybe $10 from Sam's club for a large vase full of flowers.

hahahha tha'ts an interesting way to look at it 😉

I'm probably going to drop like 150

50 for some gifts and around 100 for dinner

Opera Tickets- $75
Night out- $70
Lingerie- $35
Teddy Bear- $25
Sephora stuff- $20
Chocolates-$12
Book- $10
Card- $3
Wrapping supplies- $5

In total it comes out to like $200, plus I still have to take care of flowers which I am unsure of the cost. We broke up for about a month and just got back together, so I'm trying to do everything right. Unfortunately I'll be broke and on my ass soon if I keep spending money like this.
