How much do you spend on vacations in a year and where do you go?

I think we'll be around $12k this year although thats above average and largely driven by the numerous cheap airfares everywhere. We've been trying to work our way across all 50 states but this year will be largely Europe focused as those have been the cheap deals that work with our schedule.

Usually 4k - 10k per year, but I travel 4 or 5 times a year for work so I usually plan vacations around that because all my clients are overseas. In the last 2 years I've done Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Hungary, Czech Republic, Ireland and Costa Rica.

I'm too cheap to travel. Hardly any. We go camping. Maybe 2 grand for all things, including family holiday travel (eg inlaws @ christmas)

Ehh, 1-4K mabye.

Two of us traveling on just my income, and she is terrified of air travel, so we usually do road trips, or road trip + cruise. I would like to travel the world, but a much higher priority for me is paying off my mortgage and investing for retirement.

No more than $500 a day excluding a few cheat meals.

About $4k or less. In the past couple years my GF and I have gone to Austria, Czech Republic, Spain, Iceland, Colorado, NYC .. probably some I'm forgetting. We're pretty good at keeping it reasonably priced with airbnb and decent airfare.

Lots of plans this year -- Norway in a few months, Florida with her family over the summer (wouldn't be my choice, but her family is renting a huge house there for everyone), Portland for the eclipse in August, Chicago for the marathon in October (both her parents are running).

Europe is a great deal these days, can't wait for Norway.

I go on at least 2 international trips a year, usually just over two weeks a trip. Flying for free and having hotels for free and/or charging my friends for it I end up not spending much at all. Maybe 2-3k a trip and that's balling out unless we start popping bottles from where.

Vegas is another beast. I sometimes spend more with 1 night in Vegas than a week long international trip. It's stupid but I've cut my Vegas trips to like once a year.

Around 3-4k a year for the last four years or so as my vacations have mostly consisted of trips to San Diego for comicon, and Vegas or Yosemite.

This year we'll splurge and go to Kauai, since my GF has never been there. That'll probably be closer to 5k all together.

$5-$10K, most of that in gasoline for the motorhome. Getting 6-8 mpg makes trips get expensive quickly.

Those cruises are crazy expensive. I did a 4 day one and not sure I'd ever do one again unless it's a rave cruise lol.

5-7k. Good planning can divvy into two trips...or go all in at DisneyWorld. 2 yrs ago was an East coast 10 days road trip hitting D.C., NYC, Montreal, Toronto and Niagara Falls.
Cancun all inclusive this summer. Saving up for big Europe tour next year.

Tough to say...it varies from year to year. I've got 5-6 weeks off a year and my wife has a lot less. We just got a 3 bedroom timeshare near the beach that costs us around $850 for a week, so that's pretty much locked in...but we may go once or twice more as we can. We've been doing destination marathons/half marathons lately...did one this month and one last month in FL. Because we both run, we take family with us and pay their way to watch the kids.

I'm guessing each trip is around $2-4k....so you can guess we probably spend $6-8k at a minimum and $8-10k as a maximum.

Probably under $500. I just can't justify blowing several grand for something that lasts a week or two when I can buy a physical object or do a renovation to my house etc that will last longer. Once in a while I might splurge to do something new and different when family convinces me to go along with them on a vacation, but other than that I don't travel much. Me and one of my friends go camping once a year, we started that a few years ago, and that's pretty much my vacation for the year, we go to a nearby provincial park so it's not really that expensive even after factoring all costs like gas, food, etc.

12 hundred to 15 hundred. Go to a friend's condo by a lake and a National Park for 1 or 2 weeks. It's fanatic!

Splurge one time and do it and see how it feels. I am very materialistic and covet items and stuff. I don't own a property to renovate though I will have a condo soon. But a good trip is worth every penny. If I had an extra grand laying around and I had to choose a 3rd pair of high end headphones vs a trip, I'd choose the trip over the stuff.

The memories are priceless. Especially if you go with an SO. It's something to do together that creates a foundation for a healthier relationship through shared experiences.

So far, out of living comfortably, taking vacations, and saving for retirement, I've only been able to pick two until last year. Went to the Grand Canyon for a few days and a resort for a few days too. Flights/hotels were all done with CC points, so my total cost for wife and I was probably under a grand.

Have a ton of points this year as well, and make quite a bit more dough. Hoping from now on I'll be able to plunk down 5k or so for a week or two of enjoyment.

We don't have a set budget or schedule. It can be a mix of local road trips, domestic, transcontinental, cruises or international.

Cruise + airfare + everything else is usually around $4k for 2 weeks. For domestic we usually spend around $150 per day including hotel/food/transportation.

Not a whole lot. I despise going to museums or going around a city just to take a picture of a building or something. I mainly stick to national parks and almost exclusively drive everywhere I go and camp when possible (my last two trips out west excluded due to not making advanced plans).
