How much do you spend on clothes?

I just recently started to really care about the clothes I wear, and thus have been actually spending money on clothes. Before I didn't really care and would just buy some cheap stuff, but I've noticed that nice clothes are really worth the money (to a point)

How much will you spend for a pair of pants/sweater/tshirt/jacket/sport coat/tie/etc?

Where do you shop for your clothes?

I spend a lot more on my business clothes than anything else. For casual, I tend to prefer Banana Republic shirts (generally a polo or a light button-down) and a nice pair of jeans. For me, the investment in a handful of nice jeans is all I really need; they last forever and always look great.

For my business clothes, it's probably 80% Brooks Brothers and 20% everywhere else. I love BB's clothes, and for me the quality is unmatched unless you get everything custom. All of my suits are BB, and the difference in quality is readily apparent; of course, so is the price. How often do you have to buy a new suit though?

One pair of Old Navy jeans: $40
Random shirts from thrift stores: $1-$5 each
Old Navy shorts: $30
Old Navy shorts from thrift store: $10
Walmart socks: many for $10
Walmart jacket: $20

Business clothes budget: $0

edit: fixed 2 typos

Typically for me,

Button down shirts: $30-$60
Pants: $30-$80
Jeans: $30-$70
Sweaters: $50-$100
Jacket/Coat: $90-$200

Mainly shop at Banana Republic, occasionally American Eagle and Gap

I don't buy clothes. I just ask for them for christmas and my birthday, generally. Since I haven't grown out of my clothes for some time, thats usually enough to keep the worn out ones replaced.

Button down shirt: $30-$40. $40 being from A&F on clearance, or new from AE, or from Express with coupons. $30 being AE shirts on clearance.
Jeans: $30-40. $30 for Levi's in a dept. store, sometimes insanely cheap Levi's from the Levi Store (bought 501s for $12 once), or $30-40 jeans from Express depending on what kind of coupon I have 😛
Pants: I don't buy pants (in the, I can wear this with a button down shirt sense) often. $30 for a pair from Express. $20something from a Perry Ellis outlet. All I can ever remember buying.
T-Shirt: No more than $20, EVER. More than $15 is a special situation and must be OK'd by higher level management in my brain 😛.
Jacket: $30-50. It never gets cold here, never bought a heavy jacket.
Suit/coat: $200 from Syms. Is nice. I like.

I don't think I have spent any money on clothes in the last couple years. Except a single suit for my wedding. I should really invest in some nice clothes for work, but I always seem to find something else to spend my money on.

Hrm... 'bout time for the New Year's resolution thread isn't it.

Too much for a guy who owns crappy clothes and barely has enough stuff to last a week without washing laundry. It baffles me how I spend so much.

That being said, I spend about $500 a year.

$40 for jeans usually. (Nautica Jeans)
$30ish for work shirts either polo style or long sleeve dress shirts

not too much if anything at all. maybe some new undies and socks every once in a while. the rest is gifts and stuff from the wife. when you get old and lazy and if you're lucky enough, you too can find a beautiful wife that will take care of all that crap for you.

i remember in university though... i'd buy a new shirt every thursday to wear to the pub.

i would really enjoy traveling back in time to smack myself across the face for that.

Well my preferred style of dress is jeans and an un-tucked button down generally, and Jeans tend to be my only major purchase

Jeans - $40-200 for the budget (Lucky Brand/ Diesel for Nice jeans, Express for cheaper)
Slacks - $30-50 typically (Only when I definitely cant wear Jeans do I go with Slacks)
Button Ups - $20-50 depending. I like the Express MX1's
Undershirts - 2 for $10, Hanes Perfect-T FTW, No tag, comfy material, lots of color choices.
Socks - 6 for $10 (Hanes HP-FIT)
Underwear - Boxers are what, 3 for 10 bucks?
Normal Shoes - $30-60 for shoes (typically skate type shoes)
Boots/Nice Shoes - $100-150

wayyy too much. recently spent $120 on a pair of shoes (puma). definitely worth it though
jeans anywhere from $60-150 (express, guess usually)
shirts: $40+
jackets: bought a puma jacket for $75 not too long ago, got a nice express hoodie on sale from $90 for $30 😀

I actually asked for clothes for Christmas this year. Normally I HATE getting clothes for Christmas. But I asked for a leather jacket, a few new button down shirts, and a new pair of Merrell's as far as clothes go. Went and picked out my leather jacket yesterday -- ended up being ~$200 which is amazing for me :Q

Other than that:

Jeans ~$40
Shirts ~$20
Boxers - ?
Socks - Somehow I just have an abundance of them. No idea where they come from. My grandma sends me random packages with socks in them.
Shoes ~$70

Carhartt pants are $35

Underarmor, and other basic shirts are around $25.

I do not wear any button down shirts for any reason, so don't spend any money there.

About $70-$100 on shoes (usually Danner or something with gore-tex)

I bought

1 pair of corduroy pants - 29.99 Banana Republic
1 Pair of Chino pants - 24.99 J Crew
1 Jacket - 44.99 Gap
1 button down dress shirt - 24.99 Banana Republic
1 tie to go with shirt - I think it was like 19.99 Banana Republic.

150 bucks, seemed a lot for me....and about a month before that I spent about 129 at Ralph Lauren on 2 sweaters and a corduroy sport like jacket...I like corduroy 🙂

Not much anymore. When I'm actually employed, I buy new/fancy crap. The second school starts, I stop caring how I look and spend $20 every 4 months.
