I was just doing some budgeting and realized I have spent $1000cdn already this year! I buy em used and new... The most I've spent on a CD was $30cdn for an import...

Ack, I should point out that I mean music CD's

Ack #2, I just realized how bad the poll is... oh well, I guess polls are not my calling :p

Ack #3, sorry, this is in USD.

I usually buy one or two a month.

24 x $16.00 (avg. price) = $384.00/year

I probably spend about $100, but it might be more. I do download stuff, but if there is a song I like and I could find it I would probably buy the CD. The thing is there are no music stores around that sell the stuff I listen to. The mall has 3 music stores, they all have the same thing and it's nothing I'm looking for. I usually just order them.

fatbaby - thanks, I fixed it :)

N8Magic - is that $16US? I probably pay ~$12cdn = ~$8us per CD!

Canadian.

Contrary to my profile, I actually live in Southern Ontario. I've snagged a few that cheap at Future Shop, but most of the time I get ripped off at HMV. :(

None, unless you want to use the estimated value of content from my CD-Rs with random content on it ;)

Ah... Vancouver is the cheapest CD city in North America :)... I buy a lot of used CD's so that pulls the price down a bit...

Today I bought 6 CD's from A&B Sound (new CD's) therefore I paid more... it came to $100 after taxes... so that is
around $17 per CD with taxes...

HMV sucks! I spent $55 buying two CD's!!! I had a gift certifcate though... Zulu records on W 4th in Vancouver has an awesome
selection and good prices... and a cute girl at the cashier :)

Download and burn. Only thing I pay for is the blank CDRs. Last CD I bought, oooops never bought one, last tape I bought...Doors Greatest Hits. Does that tell you how far back it goes?

No one said record sales are up. They were (past tense) when Napster was up.

I am not going to buy any more new CDs. I am tired of getting screwed by the RIAA - I've decided to boycott their product.

Just because I don't spend all my money on Nstynk, Britnery Spears and the Back Door Boys

When did I ever say I buy that crap? I support real musicians... today I bought :

The Loud Family
The Flashing Lights
Fleetwood Mac (I can't believe I didn't have Rumours :))
Can
Gentle Giant
White Stripes

apoppin - I see... I didn't know that was referring back to the napster era... I don't want to turn this into a RIAA bash fest, but I see your point... but if you
are going to boycott their product, boycott it don't steal it...

boy·cott Pronunciation Key (boikt)
tr.v. boy·cott·ed, boy·cott·ing, boy·cotts
To abstain from or act together in abstaining from using, buying, or dealing with as an expression of protest or disfavor or as a means of coercion. See Synonyms at blackball

So if you are abstaining, all the power to you... but if you are going out and still getting the product (even if it is for free), then I don't think that is
a true boycott.
