How much do you pay for Comcast cable? And How fast?

I just want to see a quick informal comparison.

I think I pay about $45 a month for 4mbits...

about $21/mo for the full speed (4mbps, i believe). i called in and asked if they could match SBC's $19.95/mo deal and they lowered our cable internet access from ~$40/mo.

yes, SBC DSL is available in our area.

i have no clue about your 2nd question, sorry.

we were seriously considering dumping Comcast for SBC DSL, just because of the price. i guess it doesn't hurt to call and ask.

You can try, but I doubt they'll do it. iamme actually had leverage over them because he could've switched. You have no such leverage.

It doesn't matter if it's SBC or not.

What I would do is
1. find a cheaper provider, whether internet cable or TV cable
2. call comcast and ask to lower price
3. If 2 fails, call again until you get a CSR that would do it

Normal price for me is $50 for 6MB, but I'm still in my first 3 months so its ~$15 now.

How do I find out what's offered in my area? I know verizon from commercials...

You do know that CSRs leave note in your account, calling again won't help because they'll see your previous attempt
