How much do you need to know for tech support/pc repair?

What is an example that would be tech support or pc repair at stores such as Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.

I'm guessing motor capacity is really all that's required to make it from the little yellow bus into the actual store.

nothing at all! experience is good but if its something low-level, they will probably give you a list of common problem/solutions and when you first start you probably wouldnt have enough authority to mess things up too badly..
