I spent about 1500$ on my best friends bachelor party. It's probably the only time I will be a best-man, so I decided to go all out.

$1k per person should make it a memorable night to forget/regret/not remember/deny.

That's actually a really good idea, and keeps everyone together.

I swear I had no idea what I was doing my first one. I had a lot of help from my best friend's step-father. But they got easier and easier... and more out of control. Always get at least 2 of your buddies you can really trust to agree to help you keep the peace for one things are going kinda crazy.

Hrmm. I've hosted 3 bachelor parties, and I paid for pretty much everyone's expenses. I think it'd be pretty rude to invite someone to a party and make them lay out a bunch of cash. Then again, I haven't done the strip club thing, so ymmv.

I took my best friend for his party - me, him, his brother and 4 of our common friends to a real nice restaurant. Dinner and plenty of alcohol, the bill was ~$300 with a large tip.

I agree. I would hate to be put in a position where I felt guilted into spending loads of money. I mean you can't really say no to a bachelor party if it's a close friend, so you are basically forcing people to spend money they might not even really have.

3 or 4 people paying for them would be fine but it would be impossible for one person to shell out 7 or 8 grand for 25 guys to party for one night.

Cost me a grand for the last one I went to.

$320 ticket to Boston
$230 hotel room for 3-nights
$50 cab fare
$150 drinks & food
$100 entertainment

$100+ miscellaneous crap!
