I live in New York where there are "discount" electronic stores all over.

I want to get a 42" - 52" LCD HDTV

I'm wondering how much the usual markup for the 42 inch is? How about the 52 inch?

If I have this information I can definitely haggle the price down further.

Thanks for your help!

If you are looking for a deal, you are not going to beat what you can get online. Most of the NYC "discount" electronics stores exist in order to get (aka steal)as much money from tourists as possible.

Too true...a friend of mine came over from Sweden for our wedding, and decided to go to NY to buy a Canon digital SLR camera body (at the time was around $1,500)...

The best deal he could get from the "discount" stores was...get this...$3,000!

When he mentioned he saw the same exact camera online for $1,500 they "graciously" offered to match the price...

..and they usually "match" the price with a refurbished model. They have one trick after another.

I worked a Christmas at Bestbuy and got a 60" DLP.

Retail was around $3000 and get it for $2200 I believe.

I think your best bet is to look up the price online for a specific tv or shop BestBuy, CC, Samsclub etc for a good open box deal.

Saw a 60" 1080p DLP at Sam's for around $2k once, was about a $1000 of original price.

My current TV and sub are both open boxes, saved at least $500 between the two of them. Nearly paid for the rest of the system with the money I saved.

I bought a 55" HDTV when I worked at Best Buy a few years ago, a brand new model Mitsubishi 3 days after they got it in the store. $2100 retail, I believe I paid roughly $1500 for it.
