do you guys have ANY idea what the cost of JUST staying open is for a Car Dealership?

I got from my local paper (PB Post) that the average car on a lot is only there for about a week...Wow, the dealers sure sell lotta cars if that's true :Q

7g a 20G sale, whiskey tango foxtrot have you been smoking. I also sold in the eighties. I was always in the top five from 87-90 in largest dealership in AZ. While 4g seems right on the front end. In reality it rarely ever happens. A 3G figure on the back had to include projected warranty service.
Sales managers do know true invoice, its their job. The work for bonus. There bonus is based on monthly sales revenues over the dealership fixed costs. Sales managers are always keeping a running tally of profit over invoice on every sales day. Its their job to refuse a offer and inspire the salesman to go back and sell the terms that the sales manager is looking for.
In todays market, Dealerships make from 1200 to 3G on new sales. Used the sky is limit depending on model availiblity and popularity in the given market.

The question wasn't how much the mark up is on a 20g sale, a typical 20g sale probaly had at least a 25g sticker price. So the question was how much they would make if they sold at sticker.

Additionally it was for a 30g msrp, not 20g. The 10g difference is mostly profit, divided between the dealer and the manufacturer.

salesmen supposedly HATE minorities (especially indians) because they make the least profit offa these guys...

...this is according to a salesperson (Sansone @ NJ) I was casually talking to while getting my dad's car serviced (he was bored, and somehow we got into "trademark secrets" of car dealers). Then, right after that, he tried selling me a '03 Sentra GXE for $16k :Q
