How much do CAD designers make?

I am thinking about changing my Major to CAD. I would be getting an AAS in CAD. How much does one with that degree make?

$50k is not uncommon.

I didn't realize CAD was a major. I thought it just referred to the tools some engineers use.

That's because it's more of a tech degree (hence the AA). You don't see them in BS form.

Yeah, CAD is a tool. If you become an engineer, you use CAD as a means to accomplish your tasks. If you get a technical CAD degree, you just do exactly what engineers tell you all day.

engineering >>> technical CAD degree

I'm getting my BS in ME and am going into the design field right out of school. I will be making ~ $56,000/year

ya, it just seems like a tool to me as well, rather than an actual concentration of study. CAD aides you in building something. That something is what you want to be doing.
