How much do braces cost? Might need jaw realignment as well...

I'm thinking of saving up for braces. I've heard they range anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000. I might also have to get my jaws realign before the braces because I remember my dentist saying they are slightly crooked.

Anybody happen to know approximately how much either one would cost?

Yeah, its about that. It really depends on how bad it is and how long it takes.

my insurance paid for most of mine, i had to pay 850 out of pocket. check with your insurance company(s) to see if they cover orthodontic stuff.

Well $2,000-$5,000 is a big gap. I hope to get a closer proximity so I know if I can realistically save up to pay for it all at once or just a downpayment.

most offices ask for 10% down and then spread the rest out for the duration of treatment.
sounds like your treatment won't be on the low end of the scale or $2000. i'll bet it'll cost you about $4000.

why dont you just save up $100-200 to get some xrays from an orthodontist , then let him tell you what your options are.

I know silver ones are the cheapest, 1500-2000, clear ones are a little more expensive, and I think invisalign are about a grand more than regular braces. but all that depends on how long you have to have them in for.

my teeth are pretty bad. a lot of crowding. that couple with the crooked jaw, i would have to guess mines won't be cheap. so it seems that around $5,000 would probably be the MAX for regular metal braces? and a little bit more with invisalign?

I dont think you can do invisalign. Invisalign can't correct a lot of things metal braces can. Like overbite or underbite.

no actually invisalign is faster because you can only have that if you only need minor corrections.

Wear the rubber bands or you'll be in for a world of pain and long delays.

I think mine were about $4000 NZ, which would be about $2400 US.

I'm not really sure that would matter. If your teeth adjust fairly quickly, extensive treatment wont be needed, hence lowering cost. Your orthodontist will be able to tell, or at least guess, at cost.

I had braces for about 4 years and I wore a mouthguard while playing soccer. Saved my braces and lips many a time...of course, with my luck, a month after my braces were off my 2 front teeth were knocked out playing, so there went 4 years for the top row. I can't get braces again because of that...oh darn!

I just stated wearing my retainer again after a year of school without it. I hope it will correct the minor changes that happened to my teeth, the bottom row is a little crooked, I can deal with that, but one tooth started pulling out to the front so I'm kinda worried.
