How Much Digital Camera Memory is Necessary?

Right now, all I have in my (almost brand new) Olympus C-3000 Zoom is the 8MB of SmartMedia memory that came with it. I'm going to get more memory for it very soon. I'm wondering whether it's worth the $134.00 (USD) to get 128MB of Olympus SmartMedia memory, or if 64MB for $70.00 (USD) is enough. I guess what I'm really asking is (for those of you with digital cameras) - How much memory do you have in your camera, and how much of it do you actually use? Any other suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated... Thanks in advance!

can only speak for myself but I've found 64Mb adequate! :)
that gives me over 40 shots at max resolution.

I've got two sticks of 32Mb and a 64Mb. Depending on my purpose of taking the camera I usually take both sticks and always suffice for party needs. But on vacations with my laptop I just carry the 64Mb since I can always download the pics to my laptop at the end of the day. In your case, I'll say get the 64Mb if you have a laptop or get the 128 just in case you don't have the lappy.

I've got the same camera and 64MB is fine, check out Mr Flash smartmedia at newegg.com, its only like $33 and it works great. One thing is that you can only take panarama shots on olympus smartmedia. What quality do you usually shoot on? I always use HQ but I end up just resizing it on the computer cause its too big to share with friends like that. I only leavit it like that if I'm going to using something like ofoto and print them out.

Depends if your always near a computer. i have a Sony DSC S75 with a 64 meg stick, and I want to get at least another 128 or 2 more 64's...When I go home I dont have access to a computer, and family pics always use up all my ram and leaving me wanting more, so...
If you have a lappy, 64 is good!
If you gonna travel or be away from pc, get the 128 just in case
