How much diff does UDMA make?

I have a 4G WD AC243000 hard drive. With SiSoft's Sandra I was getting about 5500 on the drive benchmark. I had forgotten to turn on DMA support in Win98 so I went to Device Manager and turned it on.

With UDMA turned on I am now only getting about 6100 on Sandra. I just thought it would be faster, better than that. It seems pretty weak to me.

Maybe I should run Speed Disk real quick. Thanks for any feedback.
