How much did you spend on your receiver? What speaker configuration are you using with it?

Just curious as to how much people are spending on their receivers, and what speaker configurations they're using with them.

Apologies to the 3.1 and 4.1 crowd - no one loves you.

(And, yes, I know a sub is a speaker, too, technically. Play along nicely!)

$230--Panasonic XR55 (Receiver)
$197--2 x Polk R50 (Mains)
$82--Polk CSi25 (Center)
$75--2 x Polk R15 (Surrounds)
$110--Polk PSW350 (sub)

Everything was new except for the sub. I think it's a great setup for just under $700. I recently added a PS3 and a Pioneer 5080 which are nothing short of incredible.

Eventually (1-3 years) I plan to upgrade the audio system and use the current setup as my computer speakers.

My computer have a cheap Logitech 5.1, living room is under construction right now but I have a cheap Onkyo 7.1 HTIB in there right now except not using the sub from the HTIB. Have a single 12" Dayton Titanic MKIII in a ported box with Dayton HPSA500 (500Watt amp). The Sub and amp cost more than the entire HTIB, lol. But currently still renovating a custom build 5.1 using Scanspeak 7" revelators and seas neo tweets in a MTM and of course upgrading to a receiver that will do HDMI switching without breaking the bank.

I don't have a receiver either. I have the Onkyo Pro PR-SC885P preamp that I got for $1249, paired with an Rotel RMB-1075 amp. I've had the amp for a while, and don't remember what I paid for it. My speakers are about 4 years old & I don't recall what I paid for them either.

Front Speakers: Paradigm Studio 20
Center Speaker:Studio CC-470
Surround Speakers:Studio ADP-470
Subwoofer:Currently the HSU VTF-2, but it's being replaced by the AV123 MFW-15 if it ever ships.
