My glasses cost around $350 altogether. My vision is so bad that the lenses would have been about a half inch thick, so I went with the really high end ones that are supposed to be about half the thickness of normal lenses.

You may be right about the lenses, but these frames have survived 2 years of pick-up soccer and basketball games (being knocked off my head about once every other game) and are still as straight, snug, and comfortable as the day I got them. Regular frames wouldn't last a week with that abuse (I know from experience). To me spending the extra cash on a quality frame is well justified, especially since I see myself with them for another year or two.Originally posted by: Ornery
Ah, the scam of the century! Paying big bucks for frames. Lenses aren't far behind. Used to be, glass lenses were the cheapest way to go, but now you have to pay a premium, because they're not as common. I guess people don't mind paying to have their scratched plastic lenses replaced over and over again.
And then there's the damn frames! I'm really sure they're worth triple digits for the intricate workmanship, and high quality materials that go into them. Oh, and it's such a pleasure to try and get a replacement arm after a couple years, only to find that 1337 design is no longer manufactured, and no parts are available! :|
