How much did prom cost your high school class?

How much did all those expensive arrangements of cardboard cost your class? When everything was considered. (DJ, decorations, etc.)
My class is starting to plan for this years prom, and I am astounded by how huge of a waste of money this one damned night is! And the kicker is that all this cardboard gets thrown away the next day...
Another problem is that we can't use balloons because some people are allergic to them. Did your class have this problem?

My prom was held at the Waldolf Astoria in NYC. Tickets were $150 each. Most of it, if not all of it, was funded through Student Government over 4 years (each grade had different sales of whatever to raise money) + ticket costs.

ours is getting held in navy pier in downtown chicago. 75 bucks apparently for each ticket since our class has raised the most money in several years.

ok, my high school senior prom was held at castle-look-alike sheraton hotel in parsippany, nj.

two tickets = $120 (for my date an i)
date and i agreed to pay $150 each for her to fly to here from ohio.
limo ride = $160 (each pay $80 so there were 8 people)
tuxedo rental = $220

beach afterwards = priceless

i think the costs are about 10-15k per class, depending on what you want. the price goes up if you cater in their meals, and will drop if you do a dessert only/drinks only thing.

i met her the summer before senior year at college for camp. so i decided to ask her to come to my prom. she also has a twin sister. :Q

Ours was held at the Beverly Hilton and tickets were $150 each. Limo was $300 for the night. After-party was $80/person. Hotel was $500 for the night. I don't remember much of the night.

Ours was on the SF bay on one of the excursion cruises. Hornblower cruises. The largest recreational boat in the Bay Area. Apparently they use this boat for the "Boat Dance" that they feature in the dorms now that I'm in college. It cost us $195 for a pair of tickets in HS. I think it's something like $30 in college. I tell myself that I don't need to go on that boat yet again since I've experienced it once, but sometimes it annoys me how it's so damn cheap to go with the rest of the freshmen from the dorms... stupid HS made it so expensive =P

we paid $50 per couple (or $30 a single) and that did not include a dinner. As far as cost, our dj came with our venue (a local university club/bar) and I think they made some cheapo candle displays for the table. I think there were also a lot of balloons .
