How much did it cost you to get your puppy's first shots?

Just went today and my new 7-week old Chihuahua her first shots. Well, some of them anyway. We got to the vet, and the prices were outrageous! I had no idea it was going to cost this much. So I opted to wait on a couple of them till sometime in the next couple of weeks till I get paid again.

Anywho, I'm not going to say yet how much I paid, for fear I will be chastised for getting ripped off. I want to see how much you guys paid for your first visit. I'm hoping I didn't get ripped off, and want to see what the average is, since I'm really naive about vet costs.

Been a long time, I don't recall. But, never get outta the vets spending less then $40.

Probably was $150 or so for all the recommended stuff. Call around to a few vets in the area and ask if you think you are getting ripped. They can tell you what they charge for shots over the phone.

Ahh, thanks for the reply. I'll go ahead and tell what I spent. With everything they wanted to give her, it was around $142. I was shocked to say the least. We got it down to $92, and I'm going back in a couple of weeks to finish off the shots. This makes me feel a little better. From what friends who have gave me estimates, I wasn't expecting to pay more than $40.

By they way, it was a Banfield Pet Hostpital in a local PetSmart.

It cost me $0, because my dog never got shots. He is about 7 years old, I wonder if it is too late....

I took the wifes cat into a vets office and they told me $120+ for just her yearly checkup. I flipped out on them and had to go get extra $$ out of the bank. Never went back to them. We go to a place now that is in a strip mall and is walk-in only and except for operations and stuff and the place is the best and about 1/2 the cost. Not just 1/2 on needles and procedures but also the cost of the special food our cat gets (he has FUS and its not fun to deal with). The fact that it is in a strip mall had me worried but they are some of the best vets I have ever seen and I have seen my share.
