How much demand is there for the 600 MB satellite image on CD?

I've figured out I can burn/ship CD's with both of the images for around $1.50 apiece.

I'm willing to put the time into this if I can get enough people that want it. If only a few want it (and I already have a few that have asked for it) I won't bother ordering the mailers in bulk. But if there's a reasonable demand I can do this.

How many people want the files but don't have broadband to get them?

The CD would include:

Both original TIFF images.
50% JPG of each (for those with slower PC's/less RAM)

If you have questions about the detail level, here's Hawaii @ actual pixel size.

Just vote yes or no, I'm merely checking interest at this point.

Actually, I ended up grabbing it from NASA's FTP. Yours kept disconnecting me.

What's with those Photoshop buttons and the like being all soft and nice looking, and the logos different?

How?

I think I actually got it once, but I was unable to open it. Somewhere along the line it got corrupted, though I don't know at which stage.

I have working copies of both now though.

Photoshop 7.0 Beta 9

Yes, it's legal.

No, you can't have it.

I'd be interested. My modem is always busy downloading other things.

How would you accept payment? Paypal or MO? The MO would almost cost as much as the cd itself.

Paypal would be the simplest way to keep track of everything. I figure I'll just send to the name & address listed with PayPal, & clear them from my inbox when I mail them. OTOH, money orders can be purchased for all of 25¢, & I suppose you could just send me two $1's + your address via USPS & call it good.

I think Paypal takes $.25 plus an additional 10% out of every transaction (assuming you have a Verified Premier Account). After Paypal took out their share would that leave you with enough to cover expenses? Seems rather low.

My PayPal account is verified, but not Premier. I won't take credit card funds.

Could you please share with us the hostname and the path of NASA's FTP server where you got the images?

That would be nice of you. Thanks.

Took my rig at least a minute or 2 to open it. Specs below.

I now have several variations. I have high quality JPG's that are 240 and 156 megs and I have medium quality JPG's that are 25 and 35. IT took my computer a bit to do the converting. If anyone wants to host the files, I'll gladly send em so people on older computers can see.
