Hey guys. I'm just curious if I'm totally nutz, or what!

CPU - 120mm Delta Fan pushing 130CFM
Front Intake - 2x 80mm Theraltake SmartCase Fan 2 @ 75CFMx2
Side Intake (pushing directly on the 120mm so that it just doesn't circulate the air inside the case (CPU was 7ºC hotter before I did this mod!) - 92mm Delta Fan pushing 50CFM
Rear Exhaust - 2x 80mm Sunon 55CFM

I control all of these with my Nexus fan controller.

Lol, let's just say, when these are all on fullblast I have to crank the music/game all the way up not to hear it ;). Oh well. When I game with my headphones (@ night) I can't hear jack.

Watercoolers need not point and laugh at us air coolers :-D

I am curious as to what needs all that fanwork..? My puttputt XP1800@XP2000 using a stock GC68 with a single 92mm Sunon intake and just the stock 80mm whatever in the psu and only seeing 38c on my cpu at idle(highest seen was 44c when running Prime95 and room ambient at 90F..A/C was off..:) ..FL you know the heat..;))

New system has 5 intake fans, and 3 exhaust fans. It evens out, though, because the front intakes are somewhat obstructed.

System temperature hovers around 70F.

I may remove two fans for noise reduction though.

MangoTBG, what processor and overclock do you have that needs this kind of crazy cooling?

I run a 1800+ @ 2.3GHz 1.7v using a SLK800a w/ 80MM Panaflo 21db fan, and a couple of the same quiet panaflos for intake only. My cpu temps are around 60C under load, yet 100% stable.

Just say NO to noise.....

300 for watercooling? i figure 200 for the best setup you can get!, plus it looks as if you wouldnt be needing a new case, so only 200

How much cooling do YOU have?...
I use a cooler with about 2 square meters of surface area. It can operate in several modes. When the system is running at light loads it usually just runs in convective mode, but as the load increases, it augments the convective cooling with evaporative cooling... the porous surface of the cooler membrane begins to "sweat" and the airflow evaporates the water, resulting in greatly-increased cooling.

Obviously this doesn't work as effectively in a high-humidity environment, and the system has to be supplied with fluid so it doesn't run out. It's not a perfect system, but it's guaranteed for a lifetime. I've been using it for 33 years so far.

Definately don't forget the fluid... :D

I have a JIUHB 1700+ @ 2.2GHz 1.85v. Alpha Pal 8045 with the 120mm Delta fan and at full load I don't see anything higher than 45ºC. That's why. I couldn't fathom seeing my baby in the 50's, let alone 60's! It idle's in the the 30's and with everything at the medium setting (the sound of a normal computer) I still don't see 50ºC.

Lol, how close was the mic?! That's sickening! The 120mm and 92mm have rather low dBa ratings...and they are more of a deeper sound than that whinning sound...The thing that makes my system super loud are the two SCF2s in the front!

Honestly, as long as your PC is rock stable I don't think temps should be a concern. AMD rates the Tbreds up to 80-90C IIRC. When you have to wear earplugs to get away from the annoying humm of the fans, I think that would be more of a concern. ;)

The noise isn't constant, that's something to remember. I don't mind the noise when I'm gaming, simply because I can't hear it over the game and/or music. And it's only on "High" when I game. No worries from me. Get a Nexus fan controller and the noise is in your control

I'm an ATi fan (no...not "fanboy". I'm not obsesive about them). If I can, I'd rather stick with the Radeon series. Either way, the 5900FX is interesting my fancies.

I have a PSU fan, my default Intel CPU fan, and my default video card fan. That's it. I turned off all my Lian Li case fans. The system doesn't run hot and it's a lot quieter now. Anyone not living in arizona is crazy to run so many fans...

Florida isn't hot enough for you? Granted, it's no 100+º everyday...the humidity makes it feel that way, though

I got tired of all the noise my system makes. 3 out of 4 fans are now running at 7 volts. The CPU is quite warm now, but I prefer having less noise.

I currently have 10 fans on my main rig:

- 2x Fans on my TruePower PSU
- 1x YS Tech 80x80x25 SB 3 Pin FD1281255S-1A
- 3x PAPST 8412 N/2GL 12dB fans
- 2x Coolermaster TF8-25IM-74 80mm fans
- 1x Enermax UC-9FAB 90x90x25
- 1x Thermaltake GeForce 4 cooler on my GeForce 4 Ti 4200

and it's almost as silent as a Dell system ;)
