On some days I'll drink up to 30 ounces of coffee, others only 15. How much do you guys drink per day, and how much is probably too much?

Non coffee drinkers need not apply.

so drinking up to 32 oz is okay? I felt like I should probably ease up. Where did you get your numbers, and what are the adverse affects of too much coffee besides increased heart rate?

? espresso is not low caffine at all. at the very least its equivalent of coffee.

Is it true that espresso has less caffeine than regular coffee?

Yes and no. An espresso cup has about as much caffeine as a cup of dark brew. But servings for espresso are much smaller. Which means that the content of caffeine per milliliter are much higher than with a regular brew. Moreover, caffeine is more quickly assimilated when taken in concentrated dosages, such as an espresso cup.

The myth of lower caffeine espresso comes comes from the fact that the darker roast beans used for espresso do have less caffeine than regularly roasted beans as roasting is supposed to break up or sublimate the caffeine in the beans (I have read this quote on research articles, but found no scientific studies supporting it. Anybody out there?). But espresso is prepared using pressurized water through significantly more ground (twice as much?) than regular drip coffee, resulting in a higher percentage of caffeine per milliliter. Please refer also to Does dark roast coffee have less caffeine than light roast?

Here's the caffeine content of Drip/Espresso/Brewed Coffee:

Drip 115-175
Espresso 100 1 serving (1-2oz)
Brewed 80-135

i don't have any hard stats to share with you. it's just from personal experience. it also depends on your weight and interval of consumption. i drink 1 cup in the morning and 1 in the evening. no jitters or any crazy effects. oh, and i don't always finish my cappuccinos.

moderation is key.

according to http://coffeescience.org/antioxidant, coffee has a nice source of antioxidants. caffeine may play a role in the prevention of symptomatic gallstone disease in women.

as for brewed coffee and espresso caffeine content, check out http://wilstar.com/caffeine.htm

Well, I was expecting a poll.

Anyways. I currently drink 2-3 cups. Maybe 12 oz each. So I average about 30 oz per day.

What is to much? Well, for me, I don't drink it on the weekends, so if I drink to much during the week, my body goes through withdrawal on Sunday. That is I get a massive headache. Typcially, if I keep it to under 2 cups, I do fine. But 3+ a day and that's a problem for me.

On a sidenote, I was drinking about 1.5 pots per days several years ago. And this is not a joke. And boy, those Sundays sure did suck.

After two pots, I don't think you are really drinking it any more. Mearly borrowing it. It's more of a matter of directly passing it to your bladder or colon. Anything over a pot and I'm racing for the bathroom for one duty or the other.

you guys suck at math

1 US gallon = 128 US fluid ounces

4-6 cups that i drink is about a normal 12 cup pots worth, and because im used to it a use the bathroom normally

I probably drink 2-3 cups per day. It all really depends on how much sleep I had or am trying to avoid..

Once you drink so much you can't even blink straight, then I'd say you've taken it too far.

I usually only drink the large size cup from quick trip in the morning to get me motivated except in Dec-Feb then I might drink up to 3 cups because it is so fricking cold out ;)

Does anyone know some adverse affects of too much besides a stomach ache and nausea? Just curious.
