I would agree with this idea if it were possible for your friend to obtain proof that the company uses illegal software. Once the company realizes that someone reported their warez, they'll probably go all out in removing the evidence.
 
People, if she "quits" or is "fired", she doesn't get employment insurance - no matter if she paid for it while she was working. Hence the need of a letter explaining parting terms were friendly, and termination was due to restructuring. I've just read through a bunch of legal articles, and they're clear about that. The baby's still nursing, and her husband has low-paid jobs, and recently had heart problems. She needs that unemployment money while looking for another job.

Most likely she wouldn't even have to go to court cause they would pay up to keep her quiet and not cause anymore problems for them.
