Have a old volcano 8 hs that had Bergquist 225U interface on it. It was hard taking this stuff off. My question is how clean and thorough does it have to be? Do i have to take off every single grain of the interface off to avoid frying my processor or is most just fine enough? I've tried my best to get the whole thing off but i still see some faint markies here and there, especially in the middle where the core will be. I've used both acetone and alcohol btw. thx in advance for any help.

Alcohol itself usually should do the job and make it squeaky clean. What is the Bergquist anyway, it was a paste right?

"I've tried my best to get the whole thing off...especially in the middle where the core will be." What are you referring to here?

where the core will sit on the base of the HS. there are still faint marks here and there in the middle of where the xp core will sit. None more will come off no matter how hard i scrub. is it good enough? :)

im not sure what the Bergquist was, but it was some kind of black sticky goo on the bottom. looked like tar to me. LOL

as long as the surface is not overly textured then it probably should be fine.

Make sure you used as pure as possible alcohol to clean it?

Oh you have an Athlon XP, they lack heat spreaders so thermal paste application/removal is a bit harder. As long as it's not over the top, a few marks here or there won't matter. And as long as no "material" is left, meaning no matter how hard you scrub it won't come off (but don't overdo it).

And whats all this DBZ crap anyway :p
