ok, i still open doors for my female friends, but pulling their chair out i think is a little much. what do you guys think, if they are just friends then what is appropriate. And if someone asks for pics they should be shot .

hmm that just gave me an idea that sounds pretty screwed up, maybe some of you guys would open a door or pull out a chair for a pretty friend but not one who isnt pretty

Opening of doors, lending of coats/umbrellas, pulling out of chairs if yer close by. The usual stuff.

Ditto... it is called being a man and being respectful to women...

:D

If you're with a wife or gf, do it for them first, then anyone else... If you're out with 3 women (good for you), then perhaps it can get a bit silly... Just hold the door for them, but pulling out chairs can get silly...

Oh, and men STILL hold open doors for other women, even strangers...

You do this for all women if they are within 2-3 seconds walk time...

I actually know a lot of guys who do this. I've been with my boy, FFMCobalt, for over two years and he always opens doors for me, lends me his coat, etc.
Chivalry is still around somewhat, you just gotta know where to find it- all the good guys are chivalrous. :) Go AT males!

Yea, I know... But at least I smiled...

She is really good looking, so I figure a sister should be as well...

Of course no offence to eyecandy (of course), but it would help if her sister was a few years older (I'm 25 after all, 18 it a bit young for me...)

 <ducks from being trout slaped by eyecandy...>

Hey, no fighting over me, there's enough for both of you! :)

j/k

lol- no offense taken, Jason- and I wouldn't trout slap you...well, maybe if you really deserved it. ;) Even if I was single and already 19 (which I will be in a little while), 25 is probably too old for me- that's about the age of my pseudo older brother.

Actually, I have two sisters! But before you get your hopes up....they're 14 and 15 (almost 16). And they're both cuties- just ask ViperGTS or Cobalt. Both are redheads, too, along with all my cousins, aunts, grandma, my mom, etc. The one that's 14 is really into ViperGTS's younger brother- haha, I think that's cute.

Anyways, I'm not sure why I'm telling you all this- probably because I'm putting off doing my chem homework. :)

I was leaving McDs this week and there was a lady outside holding a baby and a whole bunch of stuff. I opened the door and let her in first and while I was leaving she said "thank you" as if she was thinking "finally!" I guess she was waiting outside for a while for someone to help her out. I was just glad to be of assistance. :)

I always have trouble with those big heavy doors that you have to push in instead of pull to enter. How are you supposed to open the door without going through the threshold first?

21 is the bottom limit for me, and that is probably going to 23 as soon as I turn 26 in 6 weeks... It isn't so much the age thing as it is place in life... I'm looking for someone out of college, someone who is starting their career, etc...

To be honust, about 3 years ago I stopped finding young girls attractive... I started seeing them more from a paternal view than anything else... My friend Wally has a 16 year old daughter (who is admitedly very attractive), but I just don't see her that way... I've given her rides to cheerleading pratice and to track pratice... I figured out already that I'm ready to be a parent, and want to be within 3 to 5 years... I always wondered when I was younder (your age) how older men stopped finding young women sexually attractive... Now I know. :)

Personally, 40 year old men who go after 20 year old women just sickens me... They are adults, they can do what they want, but that doesn't seem like a normal relationship to me... :(

<rant mode off>

Yea, but Viper wouldn't have anything to say, he already has a girl... :D Off the record I'm sure he does think they are cute... He's still a kid so I understand that... :p

I don't pull out chairs for anyone. I used to when I first met my fiance but eight years is just to long to be doing that crap. I also used to open her car door for her. For about a week.

Personally I feel rather stupid doing it for anyone and I think it rather demeans women by saying in a round about way that they are too weak to do these things themselves and need them done for them.

In my eyes if women want the benefits of being treated equally then they need to be treated equally in every aspect of life, not just the benefits but the downfalls too. This may sound like statements from a bitter man but actually I love women but cannot stand it when they expect to be treated like they are better then me and think everything should be done for them.

My fiancee shares my views on this subject and in fact was the one who finally told me that me pulling her chair out and opening her car door was making her feel uncomfortable and inept and she asked me to stop. Thank god because it was getting very old very fast.

Well, I have been with my fiance for 6 years and I still open her car door when I am driving. If she is driving then she's on her own. I always hold doors for people coming behind me. Doesn't matter who it is. I rarely pull chairs out for anyone. I guess that's mostly because I rarely go out to eat. I lend coats when needed, but I have gotten used to taking a spare when I go places with my fiance. She never thinks about taking a coat in the evening.
All this chivalry almost always depends on the woman. Most enjoy it, but some get very offended. If your single, chivalry is always good. It's not that hard to do and you get major bonus points for doing it.

I actually show *more* chivalry with close friends (regardless of looks)

I really enjoy doing things like opening doors, letting females ahead of me in line, offering to pay for food and whatnot but with girls I don't know here in Berkeley, I'm always afraid that either (a) a girl might think I'm coming onto her or (b) she might get mad at me in thinking I'm an anti-feminist.

You're never gonna lose anything by being nice to females so you might as well, you know? :)

lending of coats/umbrellas

:D I once *gave* my umbrella to a random girl I didn't know who was going in the opposite direction during an especially heavy rainstorm. At first she looked at me like I'd just taken a dump on myself but as she walked away, she had the biggest smile on her face...it was pretty rockin' ;)
