Hey guys,

I got my Duron 600 some days ago, but I'm still waiting for my KT7-RAID board I just can't wait to see how much it will overclock. Mine is a unlocked OEM one, and I'll be putting an Alpha PAL6035 on it. I wish I had the s/n so we can compare, but I'm not home so I don't have it. Please tell me:

- Original speed
- Motherboard
- Heatsink/Fan
- Speed achieved
- Voltage
- FSB (if different from 100Mhz)
- Locked/unlocked, OEM/Retail
- Memory type and setting
- Serial number (if possible)

and any other important information Thanks a bunch guys :) I'll post my reslut as soon as I get my board...

Duron 600 Retail Boxed unit, with HSF and 3year warranty for $70 shipped at buy.com.
KT7 Non-Raid at Microbarn for $135.
Stock HSF
Running 896mhz, 24/7, for 3 days now. Most stable system ever owned by far.
Core at 1.7v but MBM reports 1.76v
FSB 112mhz, which in reality is 224mhz
Was locked, used Rear window defroster repair kit on L1's.
Memory is Apacer 128meg, PC133, $98 Computer-show.com, and have Bios set +33mhz, so memory is running at 112+33 or 145mhz.
CPU is week 29.
Case is el-cheapo Computer Geeks $30, 250w, and card side is always off.
Video is V3 3000 AGP.

Temperature is 52c idle, and 59c under high stress. Times have changed with these CPU's, and they are rated at up to 90c, which is 10c more than any other CPU's, so running these at 10c more than what you are accustomed too should be no problem. The stock HSF that is included with the 600 is the same one that is included with the 1ghz T-Bird, and AMD thinks enough of it to give you a 3 year warranty with this stock setup. The only thing that needs to chill is the posts about upper 50's being too hot. Even at 896mhz and 59c, this thing blows away the dozens of other systems I've built just in terms of stabilty.

i think that is a really high cpu temp, you should spend a few bucks and get an alpha pal6035 and some arctic silver to lower your cpu temps...

with temps that high you risk burning your cpu prematurely..

Rob TV your cpu is too hot I was running that hot and couldn't get over 910mhz
I reinstalled the golden orb with new thermal paste and it now will run at 1ghz but will not run 3DMARK2000. This is do to the pc100 memory I have.
I have it running at 954 106X9 and the damn thing is running at 113F. full load. I am sure that if I had quality memory I could run 1Ghz + and still only be running about 115F. Every 50mhz oly increase 2-3 degrees F. A word to the wise is You need to cool down your chip. You have a air gap or you have a bad cooler for $12 you can have a Golden Orb and they are not a GOOD duron cooler.

see my sig. I have no problems running a 9X103 for 927 in windows and everything else but for some reason it crashes in half-life, keep in mind that I didn't do a clean install so maybe there's some weird graphic or Ali chipset registry setting still in there, I will do a clean install soon. When I bring back the FSB to 95 @ 855 and everything is fine. also temp is relative to where you have the wire some have it on the heatsink others just have it touching the base of the cpu mine is touching the core and I have clipped the extra tape to make sure it touches the core cpu. my readings are quite close to those who have the 1.02 board with the thermastor built-in. When I boot with a vcore of 1.85, it's 47c within 10minutes it goes to 50 and under heavy load for an hour or two it just goes to 51c sometimes 52c on really hot muggy days, so I think that my heat conductivity is quite good. My total exchange from P5A/K2-450 128PC100 SBAWA64 to A7V/D-650@927 128PC133 SBLive was $390Cdn. At the time I bought it, just the Athlon 900 chip was still going for $760Cdn and even today it's $440Cdn, still more than my total conversion so I really can't complain.

Good. Eceryone seems to get them at ~850Mhz minimum... anyone had a BAD experience with it? Like got a chip that wouldn't overclock much?
